Quality: It's Simple But It Isn't Easy
Facilitated By Scott Lipscomb, PMP
You are invited to join us for the February Up-Island PMI Vancouver Island Chapter "Lunch and Learn" Session.
Adherence to requirements, prevention over inspection, and testing; that about sums up quality from a PMBOK perspective. But there's a lot more to think about when determining poor quality and where it originates.
This interactive session will focus on identifying areas, some quite surprising, that have a detrimental effect on the quality and success of your projects. Hopefully this will equip you to identify mitigation strategies that help you avoid both the surprising and mundane (yet pervasive) pitfalls that we all experience in daily project management.
So, bring your insights and your "war stories" and be prepared to share!
Scott is a certified project management professional with 16 years of PM and IT experience. Over the course of his career, Scott has also worked in numerous non-PM roles that focus on ensuring stringent quality levels for projects. Often these were done in conjunction with management responsibilities.
Scott's educational and professional background include undergrad degrees in psychology and criminology which, combined with the ability to use a mouse and keyboard, landed him a sales management position with a small medical technology company in 1993. Having a natural interest in IT Scott soon transitioned to more technical roles. The companies he has consulted for include AT&T, Microsoft, Air Canada, BC ministries, and many smaller (now non-existent) start ups.
Lunch will be provide at a nominal fee of $12 per person to cover catering costs. The format of the session is an interactive discussion over lunch.
Please register as soon as possible and no later than February 22, 2010. We need to know how much food to cater for.
This event is eligible for claiming 1.5 PDU's.
